Guide to Local Recovery Update: September 8

Sep 8, 2021

The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced seven new policies to accelerate the spending of Emergency Rental Assistance funds and the National League of Cities will host two webinars in the coming week.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury recently announced seven new policies to accelerate the spending of Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA). The new recommendations are based on feedback collected through site visits and meetings with rental assistance administrators, tenant advocates, landlords, and other stakeholders. If local programs are unable to accelerate the spending of emergency rental assistance, the Treasury Department may reallocate funding to ERA programs in high-need areas.

The National League of Cities (NLC) is hosting two webinars in the coming week. On Sept. 9 at 9:30 a.m., NLC will lead a conversation on the legal and policy considerations surrounding municipal employee vaccine mandates, including collective bargaining.

On Sept. 14 at 7 a.m., NLC and other organizations will discuss how American Rescue Plan Act funds can support long-standing water infrastructure needs, including stormwater and wastewater. Speakers will share several examples of local government plans for funding and a follow-up document with jurisdiction and national resources for additional questions.
