Deadline Extended: Wildfire Resiliency and Recovery Planning Grant Program

These grants make a total of approximately $720,000 available – up to three to five grants between $150,000 and $250,000 – to support recovery and resilience activities in California communities affected by wildfires.
Prop. 84, passed in 2006, directed funds to protect natural resources vital to public health, California's economy, and the environment. The California Strategic Growth Council (SGC) has awarded over $66 million through Prop. 84 between 2010 and 2018.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants for the Wildfire Resiliency and Recovery Planning Grants include local and regional governments (cities, counties, tribes, and metropolitan planning organizations) representing California areas affected by wildfires between 2017 and 2019.
Application Timeline, Guideline and Resources
The program’s timeline is currently being revised, based in part on continuing guidance regarding social interactions, as well as the SGC’s public meeting schedule, since the council approves the program’s grant awards. Although SGC and OPR have not yet confirmed the new submission deadline, they will provide a minimum three week extension beyond the original March 18 deadline.
Once SGC and OPR have established a revised submission deadline, they will send announcements to their email lists, and their staff will individually email all applicants who have started applications on the GRanTS application platform. The grant application and guidelines can be accessed through the SGC website.
In the meantime, OPR will continue to answer your questions and remain available to provide updates and information.
